Furniture for Later Life - Design Based on Older People’s Experiences of Furniture in Three Housing Forms
Beskrivning av avhandling:

My research deals with methods to communicate with users and processes of how knowledge about users and user knowledge can be transferred to complex innovation systems. The aim is to explore how various user-centered methods can be combined, modified and practiced to create conditions for the design of totally new or improved products. My ambition is that my work will contribute to knowledge about what is in the users’ best interests. One of the most important challenges of design is to make sure that objects designed for everyday use will be universally usable. We cannot anymore develop unnecessary stuff. We need fewer but better products that suit different interiors over the years and diverse users in various times of life. This perspective both leads to more durable products that contribute to sustainability and to maximal usability that increases the number of potential users and consequently the total market.
